Sensex extend losses, down 612pts

The Sensex finally ended (provisional) at 14,774 - down 638 points. Tata Motors has slumped 6.7% to Rs 435. Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have dropped 6.3% each to Rs 203 and Rs 778, respectively. Hero Honda, ITC, Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastructure, ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, SBI, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, Reliance and Larsen & Toubro have shed 4-5% each. Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Wipro, Infosys, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC, TCS and Grasim are the other losers. The market breadth is extremely negative. Out of 2,647 stocks traded 1,912 have declined while 649 have advanced.
