50 cities identified by Nasscom for IT, ITeS sector

It was important to identify emerging destinations, he said, addressing a seminar on "emerging IT-BPO Destination-Coimbatore" here last night. At the seminar, two leading city based universities urged Nasscom to partner them in setting up finishing schools and also to come out with syllabus on soft skills. Prof G Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor,Bharathiar University appealed to Nasscom to set up such a school on their campus, which would benefit students and industries in the region. For the benefit of outgoing students, at least six months training should be imparted to them so that they could develop skills as required by the indutries, he said. R Radhakrishnan, vice-chancellor, Anna University, requested the association to prepare a syllabus on soft skills. It should also help in training students opting for internships and projects, he said.
